Walking In The Light

HAVING FAITH IN TIMES OF DISTRESS

Distress, it seems, is the norm for humanity stricken by sin. We read about it in our news feeds constantly and we can get the feeling that the world, locally and globally, is collapsing around us. Because of Jesus, even in these distressing times, we have reason for hope. Indeed, we have reason to be joyful. Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. - James 1:2-3. You will never find authentic true peace without God. So we cast our anxieties and fears upon Him. He alone can give us the strength and love that conquers all.

PRAYER

"Lord, on this day we bring to You our prayers of thanksgiving for having loved us so much as to give Yourself to us in Jesus. We know that the distresses of the world and of our lives are real. We also know that by learning from You, Jesus, and by walking more and more often in the moral truth of your way, with undivided hearts, You will comfort us in our distress. Strengthen us with your grace, Lord. Increase our faith, our hope and our love so that we will seek you always. We ask this in the power and the grace of your name, Jesus. Amen!"

"Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name." - Psalm 86:11

For the divided heart there is no absolute “truth.” Rather, the divided heart sees truth as a limitation to its supposed “freedom.” As Christians, though, we pray for an undivided heart, one that remains true to the wisdom of God in all circumstances and situations.

Walking With Spiritual Authority

Have you ever experienced a battleground that seems like there is no source of hope? You're not alone. The good news is that we have an all knowing and powerful God that is with us in the midst of battle. To walk in Spiritual Authority, we must put on the Spiritual Armor.  As Christians, we clothe ourselves in armor that is not seen by the natural eye, but it is the very life of Jesus Christ. The Bible instructs us to put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). Do you realize that we have a King that has never lost a battle? Now that's an amazing track record for the ages!

PRAYER:
God, in the midst of the battle let my strength come from you. You are my strong tower, my fortress and my refuge in times of trouble. Let me walk with Spiritual Authority knowing that  nothing can stand against you. I have placed Your armor around me so I may walk without fear. I have put on the Belt of Truth, The Breastplate of Righteousness, The Shoes of Peace, The Shield of Faith, The Helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit. You have prepared a table for me in the midst of my enemies. Give me the courage to stand in the fire with endurance, patience and confidence that your love conquers all. Amen.

David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.  - 1 Chronicles 28:20 (NIV)

Our battle belongs to the Lord. For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Walk in the Spritual Authority that has been given to you.

Spiritual Courage in Difficult Times

Having a purpose in life is essential to both body and spirit. In challenging times we seek a comfortable place of refuge to find peace in our hour of need. The very fiber of our hearts and souls are compromised when we look to the world for answers to those difficult moments in life. It requires spiritual courage that can only be found through the love and peace of God. There are two kinds of courage: En-courage or Dis-courage. Which will you choose?

PRAYER:
Lord, give me the strength to stand firm in my faith that I can do all things through Christ Jesus. Equip me with moral courage to face the enemy in the midst of my trials knowing that I am clothed in your armor. My trust is in You Father. For you are my hope and salvation during times of joy and times of sorrow. Your love endures forever and I am humbled by your presence. Thank You for the ultimate victory that can only be found at the Cross. You are my Lord and King forevermore. Amen.

"Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God."
Psalm 42:11 (NIV)

The deepest problems of our hearts are often answered by the simplest truths. “Put your hope in God,” not in man and the world. David, called a man after God's own heart, talks about the same troubles and how he turned it into praise. You can experience that same peace by placing your faith and hope in Him this very day.
