The “Aha” Moment!

Larry Dershem made a beeline to his church’s petition table for 2008’s Calif. Prop. 8, a state constitutional amendment validating only marriage as between a man and a woman. “I had been aware of the cultural meltdown for some time, even before that.” It was the push over same-sex “marriage,” though, that catapulted concern into action. “You reach a point where you say, ‘Somebody, do something. What more can we do, other than vote?’ Right about then, Dran started The Salt & Light Council, and we got involved with that right from the start. That was the moment.”

The Call-to-Action

Ever since the Proposition 8 campaign, Horizon Christian Fellowship has supported The Salt & Light Biblical Citizenship Ministry, offering the group a table to provide monthly updates on Biblical issues of the day. “We are a Bible-believing, Bible-teaching church. We believe the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation. All at Horizon find a church that teaches God’s Word.” The church also brings in noted cultural experts and supports Salt & Light Movie Nights and DVD video series on relevant topics. “The church is very supportive. I feel blessed we are here.”
